We are very proud to say that Dawlish Primary School is a rights respecting school and we are committed to placing the Rights of the Child at the heart of our core values and beliefs. We believe that children’s participation is vital to all aspects of school life resulting in empowered and self-confident pupils who understand and promote the rights of children all over the world.
Our assemblies, lesson plans and policies reflect our strong belief in children’s rights and this ethos supports a sense of community and rights respecting actions for all our pupils and staff.
We encourage children to be active and well-informed global citizens, who understand equality, dignity and respect for themselves and others.
We are always striving to create the best possible learning environment for our pupils and the Rights Respecting journey helps us to improve well-being and to develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential.
The language of Rights Respecting is used every day at Dawlish and we would love to encourage you to ask your children about what they know and understand about children’s rights. Having a conversation at home about Children’s Right’s is a vital part of our journey and we would love you to be involved.
Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and young people and their rights. In 1989, governments across the world agreed that all children have the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential.
