Dawlish, Newport and Thorpe Hall Primary Schools work together in a partnership known as Opossum Federation. The three schools are all located in London Borough of Waltham Forest. Opossum schools are inclusive, recognising and celebrating all abilities and encouraging independent thinking. Staff support each other and work well in partnership to ensure all the pupils in our community receive the best education possible. Newport was recognised as an Outstanding School in June 2013, Dawlish is currently graded as Requiring Improvement (November 2015) while Thorpe Hall was acknowledged as Good in July 2017.
Opossum entered into a soft federation with Oakhill Primary School in September 2015. Oakhill was recognised as an Outstanding School in 2013.
The federation benefits from closely located schools with Newport and Dawlish in the south of the borough, a short walk apart and Thorpe Hall and Oakhill a short distance apart from each other in the north of the borough. This offers many opportunities for joint working and shared learning experiences for the children from neighbouring schools.
